On Wednesday 6 December 2006, the Chancellor made his annual Pre-Budget Statement to the House of Commons. Announcements included:
- ISAs made permanent and more flexible
- Managed Service Companies attacked
- Rise in Air Passenger Duty
- Tightening up of the rules on Alternatively Secured Pensions
- Change in the rate of tax deduction for subcontractors within the construction industry scheme to 20% from 2007
