Charities
Introduction
The level of regulation and potentially therefore risk on specialist assignments is even greater than for the audit of commercial companies. This half day course is designed to introduce the Mercia Specialist Assignments Manual (SAM) documentation, as updated for clarified ISAs, and procedures to members of staff who are new to the Mercia system and who need to use it in practice. The course will also be useful for existing users who would like to learn how to use the documentation as effectively as possible, specifically for charity assignments.
Objectives
On completion of the course, participants will understand the documentation and how to use it in practice. Participants who have previously used alternative systems will be converted to, and made aware of any differences in, the approach of the Mercia SAM. The course will cover the important procedures and identify which are mandatory and which can be amended in certain circumstances.
Content
- Outline of the structure and content of the charities SAM
- Overview of the non-audit sections of the manual
- The planning and completion processes and related documentation (using case studies as appropriate)
- How the audit programme works
- Electronic creation of tailored packs
Participants
All partners and staff who are involved in charity assignments and who are new to the Mercia manuals. It will also be useful for long-standing manual users who want a refresher.
Please note that a basic knowledge both of audit procedures and the regulatory background of the charities sector is assumed so this course is not ideal for new recruits with no previous experience. Moreover, the course will be of only limited use for someone who has recently attended another audit manual course.
