This course provides practical guidance about dealing with the problems which occur during audits.

Content will include:

Project management issues
• Planning ahead for effective review and assignment completion
• Getting the deliverables right
• Striking a balance between quality and efficiency
• Quality control and ethical issues

Accounts compilation and the audit issues
• Getting documentation levels right
• Work on accounts disclosures – particularly FRS 102 and FRS 102(1A) issues
• Going concern issues
• Subsequent events flagging

Audit procedures – common issues
• Obtaining sufficient understanding of the entity and its environment
• Risk linkage and client understanding
• Assessing and using materiality
• Documenting and assessing issues on fraud, and laws and regulations
• Audit sampling – avoiding the pitfalls
• Analytical procedures as substantive evidence – what ISA 520 requires
• Recording the evidence – ISA 230 (revised June 2016)
• Review of the file
